"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
— Ephesians 2:8-9

We often believe we can earn God's love through our efforts and accomplishments. But the Apostle Paul makes it clear that our salvation comes entirely from God's grace. Through faith alone, made possible by grace, we who were spiritually dead through sin are given new life. This is not the result of our righteousness or good works, but purely from God's perfect will and compassionate action.
Deep within our hearts lives the belief that we can save ourselves through our deeds. We easily convince ourselves that only by praying more, serving more, and living more morally can we gain God's approval. Yet God's grace is a gift already given, independent of our efforts. Even our best deeds fall short before God's perfection.
The comfort this truth brings us is profound. We need not despair at our inadequacies. When we fail and fall, we need not condemn ourselves. For our salvation does not depend on our works. God loved us while we were still sinners, sent Jesus for us, and through His grace has called us to new life.
How should we live within this grace? Receiving grace does not mean we have no responsibility. Rather, those who deeply understand grace are drawn to love and serve God all the more. Our good works and devotion are no longer means to earn salvation, but expressions of gratitude and response to grace received. God's grace sets us free, and in that freedom, we serve Him with true joy.
🙏 Today's Prayer
Dear God, we thank You this morning for awakening us again through Your boundless grace. We often deceive ourselves into thinking we can save ourselves through our own strength, and we suffer from our insufficiency. Yet You loved us first when we could do nothing, and You gave us Jesus. Before this great grace, we bow our heads in praise. Help us to remember this grace throughout this day, and in hearts of gratitude, let us love and serve those around us. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
