"O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him."
— Psalms 34:8

The expression "taste and see" carries profound meaning. Just as we experience the flavor of delicious food, we can directly experience and feel God's goodness in our lives. When we encounter God's grace and care in our daily lives, just as our taste buds recognize flavors, our faith grows into something genuine and deep.
Think back on moments when you experienced God's goodness. Times when you received unexpected help in difficult situations, moments when you felt assured that you were not alone, or instances when you discovered God's deep love within things you once took for granted. These are the moments when we taste God's goodness, and these experiences strengthen our faith.
Why must we flee to God? Many things in this world shake us and fill us with fear. Anxiety about the future, present difficulties, and wounds from the past weigh on our hearts. Yet when we flee to God, when we make Him our refuge, we experience true safety and peace. This is the blessing that this verse promises.
This blessing is not external abundance or worldly success. It is the peace that guards our hearts in any circumstance, the joy of trusting God, and a spiritual satisfaction that no one can take away. How deeply do you feel God's goodness in this very moment? Today, consciously look for God's goodness, starting with small things. As you do this, your faith will grow stronger.
🙏 Today's Prayer
Dear God, thank you for giving us another new day. I long to experience Your goodness more deeply. Though we are filled with fear and anxiety, help us understand how blessed it is to flee to You. Grant us the grace to live every moment in Your care, and fill our hearts with the joy of experiencing Your goodness. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
