Being asked to lead the pastoral prayer can be nerve-wracking. "What do I say?" "What if it's too short?" "Will it be boring if it's too long?" Those worries are natural. But the key is actually simple.
A pastoral prayer has four parts: thanksgiving, confession, supplication, and closing. Start with something you're grateful for this week, confess where you fell short, pray for the church and the world, and close in Jesus' name.
