What's the first thing you do when you open your eyes in the morning? For most of us, it's reaching for the phone — messages, news, social media. But what fills that first hour shapes the rest of your day.
Psalm 5:3 says, "In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly." David gave the first sound of his day to God. Instead of pulling out the day's worries first, he looked to God.
Morning prayer doesn't have to be long. Just waking up and saying, "God, please be with me today" is enough to start. That alone shifts your whole mindset.
Lamentations 3:22-23 is another beautiful passage for the morning: "Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning." Even if yesterday was hard, this morning is fresh. There is new grace waiting for you every single day.
This morning, before you check your phone, would you try praying for just one minute? That one minute could change your entire day.

God, I begin this day with You. Thank You for the grace of rest last night and for opening a new morning. I entrust the people I will meet and the tasks I must do to You today. Let my words and actions be pleasing in Your sight, and give me the wisdom and strength I need. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Loving God, thank You for this new morning. Remembering yesterday's grace, I entrust this day to You. Guide my steps and help me share Your love with everyone I meet. Help me live for Your glory today. In Jesus' name, Amen.
