Jesus teaches his disciples the profound essence of prayer. "Ask, and it shall be given you" is far more than a simple request for material needs—it is a mystery that reveals God's character as our Father and our identity as His beloved children. How many of us harbor unfulfilled desires yet remain paralyzed by fear to ask? We anxiously anticipate rejection from God, hiding our true needs beneath the surface.

But the God that Jesus reveals is strikingly different. Even earthly fathers do not give stones when their children ask for bread, nor serpents when they ask for fish. Though imperfect, we still care for our children with love. How much more, then, will our perfect Father in heaven care for us? Jesus assures us that despite our sinfulness and weakness, God delights in giving good things.

The words "seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened" carry within them a theology of perseverance. When our prayers are not answered immediately, it is not because God has abandoned us, but rather He draws us deeper into seeking, searching, and knocking. Through this process, our faith matures and our relationship with God is renewed. The very act of asking becomes an encounter with the divine.

What is it that you seek today? Health, peace, love, purpose? Whatever it may be, Jesus encourages us to ask without fear. Believe that God does not despise your prayers but awaits them with an open heart. Our calling is to ask with sincerity, to seek persistently, and to knock with hope. Then indeed, the door will open.
