Under the scorching heat of summer, we truly understand the value of a cool glass of water. Thirst is more than a physical sensation—it reveals what our souls truly desire. When Jesus spoke of hungering and thirsting after righteousness, He was applying this urgent longing to our faith. True happiness comes from yearning for God's righteousness.

The world offers us much: success, honor, wealth, and pleasure seem capable of quenching our thirst. Yet despite enjoying all these things, an emptiness remains deep within. Without a thirst for God's righteousness, justice, and genuine love, our souls can never be satisfied. This is why we need wisdom to distinguish between what we should pursue and what we should avoid.

We must hunger and thirst for righteousness because we ourselves are imperfect. Daily, we make mistakes, fall into sin, and experience our limitations. In those moments, our response should not be despair but a desperate thirst for God's righteousness. The greater this thirst, the closer we draw to Jesus, and the more deeply we taste His grace.

Jesus promised, "They shall be filled." This is not mere comfort—it is God's certain promise. Our thirst for righteousness is not in vain, and God will satisfy us. Remember that every spiritual thirst we feel today is evidence of God's work within us.
