"This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you."
-- John 15:12

The disciples, after the Resurrection, were given time to deeply contemplate Jesus's final message. The Lord made clear what matters most in God's kingdom—not rules or regulations, but love. When we look at how Jesus loved His disciples, it was unconditional love, a love of self-sacrifice, a love that accepted all.
Our world often operates by the logic of competition and comparison. We compete for better things, measure ourselves against others, and it seems natural to prioritize our own interests. Yet the commandment Jesus left us is entirely different. It is to love one another with the same love with which He loved us. This is not merely a feeling, but a love that is chosen and lived out.
Jesus's love was not for my convenience. Rather, it was a love that gave itself for me. When we treat others with such love, the world begins to change. Hatred transforms into love, resentment into forgiveness, indifference into care. When we practice this love in our families, in our workplaces, in our neighborhoods, we reveal our identity as disciples of Jesus.
This commandment of love is not a burden to us. It is, instead, liberation. We escape the life of keeping score, comparing, and competing, and enter into relationships where we accept one another as we are. Because Jesus loved us first, we are already sufficient in that love. In this assurance, we are free to love others.
🙏 Today's Prayer
Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for loving me first today. Let that wondrous love spring forth from the deepest place of my heart. Grant me a heart to treat those around me with the love that You have shown. In this world growing dark with hatred, help me to follow Your commandment of love as Your disciple. Open my eyes with Your love toward my family, my friends, and all my neighbors, and give me the strength to practice true love. Amen.
