"And killed the Prince of life: whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses. And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all."
-- Acts 3:15-16

Peter and John encountered a beggar crippled from birth at the temple gate. They had no silver or gold, but possessed something far more precious—the name of the risen Jesus Christ. With a simple command, "In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk," the man rose, walked, and leaped with joy, praising God.
Peter's declaration that Jesus is "the Prince of life" carries profound significance. Jesus is not merely a great teacher or moral example, but the very Author of life itself. Death could not hold Him, and through His resurrection, He demonstrated absolute sovereignty over death and life. The apostles witnessed this resurrection power directly through miracles performed in His name.
Though Jerusalem's people saw the miracle, the true power lay in Jesus' name itself. This name transcends physical healing—it restores broken souls to wholeness. As Scripture states, "the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness." Jesus' name imparts faith itself, granting us the power of salvation and the possibility of miracles.
We too live as those early disciples. By worldly standards we appear weak and insufficient, yet the name of Jesus we possess is our greatest treasure. When we pray in this name, when we rely upon it, God's power works mightily in our lives. In the name of the risen Jesus, we too are made whole.
🙏 Today's Prayer
O God, we worship before the name of the risen Jesus Christ. We beseech You that this Name, which conquered death and achieved victory, may work mightily in our lives. When we despair, grant us hope through this Name; when we stumble, lift us up through it. We give thanks for the grace of receiving this Name despite our weakness and insufficiency. We desire to be fully restored through the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
