As Jesus journeyed toward Jerusalem, ten desperate men with leprosy met Him between Samaria and Galilee. Their cry echoed across the distance—a plea born of desperation and the faintest hope. Jesus' response was simple: "Go show yourselves to the priests." They did not wait for healing to be complete; they stepped forward in faith, and healing came to them on the road.
Yet something remarkable occurred that revealed the true state of hearts. Nine of the ten, their joy at being cleansed overwhelming, never looked back. They moved on, absorbed in their newfound freedom, their former suffering forgotten in the excitement of restoration. But one—a Samaritan, an outsider, a man whom the Jewish community despised—returned. With a loud voice, he glorified God, and falling at Jesus' feet, he gave thanks.
Jesus' words pierce our hearts: "Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine?" This is not a mathematical question but a spiritual one. We live surrounded by countless miracles we have ceased to notice. Each breath, each moment of health, each relationship, each provision—these are God's gifts, yet we often receive them as if they were our due. The Samaritan understood something the other nine missed: gratitude is not merely politeness; it is the recognition that all we have flows from God's hands.
The blessing the Samaritan received went deeper than physical healing. Jesus told him, "Your faith has made you well." His gratitude was not an afterthought but the evidence of a faith that recognized God's lordship over his life. A thankful heart is not just elevated in spirit—it is transformed in soul.

Almighty God, Father of all mercy, I come before You this day with a grateful heart, yet aware of how often I have taken Your goodness for granted. You have blessed me with life itself, with breath, with family, with salvation through Christ. Forgive me for the countless times I have received Your blessings as though they were my right, never pausing to acknowledge Your hand in my life. Open my eyes to see the miracles hidden in my daily mercies. Give me the spirit of that grateful Samaritan, who turned back to glorify You with a loud voice. May gratitude become not a rare moment but the constant posture of my soul. Let my thanksgiving draw me closer to You and deepen my trust in Your providential care.
