"But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper."
— Psalms 1:2-3

Drawing near to Scripture is not merely opening a Bible. The Psalmist describes it as delight—not obligation, but joy. True relationship with God's Word comes from seeking it with pleasure rather than duty.
Meditating day and night means more than a single moment of reading. It is Scripture woven into the fabric of life itself. It's not forgotten after morning study, but continues to deepen as you walk through your day. Whether walking, working, or resting in the evening, the echoes of God's Word resound in your heart.
The Psalmist compares such a person to a tree planted by rivers of water. Its roots touch the source of life, so drought cannot uproot it. The supply flows from within, regardless of external change. When you plant yourself in God's Word, that same nourishment sustains you. When the world's noise grows loud, difficulty presses in, or emotions falter, Scripture anchors your soul.
"Bearing fruit in its season" carries profound weight. Not every season yields harvest, but each season brings its appointed time. Do not grow anxious for immediate results; if you dwell in God's Word, He will bring forth fruit in His season. The leaf that does not wither speaks of enduring life. Faith that is hot only at the beginning but cools afterward is not the life described here. Rather, it is constant vitality—the continuous life of one who walks with Scripture.
Today, meet God's Word with joy. Carry one verse in your heart throughout this day. As a tree drinks water, so let Scripture gently quench your spirit.
🙏 Today's Prayer
O Lord, who calls us to delight in Your Word, I come before You today. Grant that I might embrace Your Scripture not as burden, but as blessing; not as custom, but as communion. Let my heart's roots grow deep into Your Word, and open my ears to hear Your voice in every moment. When the noise of this world grows loud and difficulty surrounds me, let Your Word hold fast my soul and keep me steadfast in unshaken faith. In seasons when fruit is not yet visible, grant me patience to wait for Your appointed time, and constancy to remain faithful in You. Amen.
