John 15:12-15
📖 Today's Word

"This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you."

📜 Today's Meditation

The Lord's commandment is simple yet profound: love one another as I have loved you. This is not merely an emotion to be felt, but a way of life to be chosen. The love Christ demonstrated is always accompanied by action—it is love made visible through deeds, not merely through words.

Why did Jesus speak of laying down one's life for a friend? To reveal how much true love demands of us. Christ himself laid down his life for us on the cross. He showed us the greatest love. In the face of that sacrifice, we come to understand how small our own efforts truly are.

Yet he called us friends, not servants. In this relationship, we find courage to love as he loved. Because Jesus is our friend, and that selfless love he showed us dwells within us, we are transformed. That love becomes our strength.

We must learn to see others with that same love. A love that prioritizes their good above our own comfort. A love that lays aside self to honor another. This is the commandment Jesus gave us. Such love transforms the world, breaking down walls between people and healing division.

What can I do for someone today? We need not attempt great things. Begin with small kindness, small care, small sacrifice. That is where the love Christ showed us begins. If someone near us experiences that love today, that is enough.

🙏 Today's Prayer

Lord, I thank you. You have called us friends, and I am overwhelmed by the greatness of the love you showed us—laying down your life for us.

Make us capable of loving as you loved. Give me courage to set aside myself and care for those around me. Help me to practice that love in the small moments, where it matters most.

In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
