📜 Today's Meditation

Jeremiah 29:13 is a promise found in God's letter to the Israelite exiles taken captive to Babylon. The people had lost their homeland and were desperate in a foreign land. False prophets promised swift return, but Jeremiah proclaimed God's true message: restoration would come after 70 years of captivity. Meanwhile, they were called to seek God.

The phrase 'with all your heart' is key. In Hebrew, this means searching with complete, undivided devotion. Half-hearted commitment, habitual faith, or mere religious formality cannot bring us into God's presence.

Lent is a season to recover this 'wholeheartedness.' We too sometimes find ourselves captive—to illness, failure, broken relationships—and God may feel distant. Yet this promise is clear: seek Him with all your heart, and you will find Him.

God is not hiding. Our scattered hearts prevent us from finding Him. Today, gather the fragments of your heart and lay them before the Lord.

🙏 Today's Prayer

O God who promises to meet us when we seek You with all our hearts, I confess my divided heart. My attention is scattered among work, worries, and desires, and I have not sought You wholly. In this season of Lent, I gather the pieces of my heart to lay before You. Grant me the earnestness to seek You with my whole being, and meet me as You have promised, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
