We often find ourselves confused about what God truly desires from us. We think we must offer grand sacrifices and demonstrate our faith through visible actions. But the prophet Micah showed us, centuries ago, what God genuinely requires. It is neither complex rituals nor great wealth.
What God demands is justice. When we witness injustice, we must not turn away. We must listen to the cries of the weak, and conduct our dealings with honesty. This must be the foundation of our lives. Moreover, God desires mercy. It means treating others with compassion, restoring relationships through forgiveness, and feeling the pain of others as our own.
Finally, God requires humility. We must acknowledge that we are imperfect and do not know everything. Rather than exalting ourselves, we must walk with God. To walk humbly means recognizing that our judgments and opinions are not absolute, and maintaining a heart willing to follow God's guidance.
When these three virtues shine through the small decisions we make daily, our lives become a sacrifice pleasing to God. Not through grand achievements or conspicuous devotion, but through justice, mercy, and humility displayed in the ordinary moments of life—these touch the heart of God.
🙏 Today's Prayer
O Lord my God, who examines my heart and knows my intentions, I confess that when I desire to act justly in this world, fear often overtakes me. But as You have shown us, what You seek is not the victory of the strong, but a voice for the weak. Grant me a heart full of mercy toward others. Help me acknowledge my own insufficiencies and walk humbly before You. Let my soul burn with an unwavering desire to walk with You in every moment. Amen.
