David cries out to God from the depths of darkness. When his enemies pursue him and his heart trembles, his spirit weary, he returns to prayer. What stands out in these verses is David's refusal to claim his own righteousness. Instead, pleading "Enter not into judgment with thy servant," he acknowledges his own imperfection.

We often find ourselves in situations like David's. When we stumble through mistakes and weakness, anger and resentment toward God may rise within us. Yet David's prayer shows us another way. Not to trust in our own righteousness, but in God's faithfulness and justice. The confession "no man living shall be justified" is both an acknowledgment of human limitation and a proclamation of God's perfection.

This prayer is not a request, but an act of trust. David prays with the certainty that God will hear him, for God's faithfulness never changes. Though our feelings shift and circumstances falter, God's faithfulness remains unmoved. To pray to God is the soul's movement of acknowledging our weakness while depending on a greater power.

As autumn begins, many things change. Seasons shift, our plans may alter. In such times, return to prayer as David did. "Hear my prayer and give ear to my supplications" is an invitation to you today. God does not cast you away because of your imperfection. When you cry out, He will listen.
