"Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows."
— Luke 12:6-7

God does not overlook even the smallest things. In Jesus's time, sparrows were considered the most worthless birds. Five of them were sold for just two farthings, valued so cheaply. Yet Jesus tells us that not even one of these insignificant sparrows is forgotten before God. What an astonishing truth this is!
Jesus goes further, saying that even the very hairs of our head are numbered. He knows every detail of our being, every tiny part of us. This is not mere surveillance, but care filled with deep love and concern. God is the Master of the universe, yet He watches over each one of us with such meticulous attention.
Sometimes we feel small and insignificant. In the flow of the world, our existence may seem worthless. But in God's eyes, each of us is far more valuable than sparrows. We are created in the image of God, and we are those for whom Jesus died.
Therefore, "fear not" is not mere comfort. It is a confidence born from understanding how precious and valuable we are. God knows even our smallest worries and deepest concerns. And His love that guides us never changes.
🙏 Today's Prayer
Dear God, I thank You. I realize that You, the Master of this vast universe, care for even this small me with such detailed attention. I want to believe that my hair, my every moment, is precious in Your sight. In the fear and anxiety I may feel today, help me remember Your great love. Let me know how precious I am. And within that confidence, give me faith to live more boldly. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
