📜 Today's Meditation

We often feel hesitant to draw near to God. Old habits hold us back, and repeated failures make it hard to lift our heads. We know we should approach God, yet something seems to stand in the way. James sees this clearly. The phrase "ye double minded" honestly reveals our divided state, yet it is immediately followed by an astonishing promise: if we draw near to God, He will draw near to us.

The key lies in the order. We must move first. When God feels distant, it may not be that He has left us. We may be the ones closing the door. "Cleanse your hands, ye sinners" is not about ritual cleansing, but about turning the direction of our lives toward God. It means letting go of what we cling to—that is the first step toward drawing near.

A divided heart is the inner landscape every believer knows. We promise to pray but keep delaying. We resolve to live by God's Word but waver before temptation. We say we love God but cannot release the world's safety net. James is not asking us to eliminate the conflict itself, but to choose our direction today. A single step toward God begins to gradually settle our divided hearts.

No one comes before God in perfect condition today. Waiting until everything is in order becomes a lifetime of waiting. James's message invites us: come near now, from this very place, just as you are. As we confess and extend our hands toward Him, God runs toward us—and that promise gives us courage today.

🙏 Today's Prayer

Father God, I confess honestly. I often live with a divided heart. I want to move toward You, yet my mind keeps scattering toward other things. Before the Word of James today, I make a decision. I will not wait until I am perfect. Here and now, just as I am, I draw near to You. I believe You see this step and will run toward me. Help me lay down my divided heart and live with one heart turned toward You. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
