"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."

This verse from Psalm 23 is perhaps the most realistic in the chapter. "The valley of the shadow of death" speaks of life's darkest and most fearful moments.
Notice the phrase "walk through." The psalmist does not avoid the valley; he walks through it. He acknowledges that dark times may come. Yet even then, there is no fear.
Why? Because He walks with us. God does not show us the valley's exit from afar; He walks beside us within the darkness itself. That is our comfort.
🙏 Today's Prayer
O God, when I walk through valleys of darkness, help me remember that you are with me. Even in fear, I trust that your rod and staff comfort me. Grant me to remember that the valley is not eternal, but you are. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
