Cuando te asignan la oración pastoral por primera vez, puedes preguntarte: «¿Tengo que orar al menos 5 minutos?» Para nada.
El Padre Nuestro que Jesús enseñó se puede leer en 30 segundos. Si el modelo de oración dura 30 segundos, la oración pastoral de 1-2 minutos es más que suficiente.
La clave de una oración pastoral corta son tres cosas: una gratitud, una petición y un versículo bíblico. Con estos tres elementos basta.
Es mucho más lleno de gracia una oración corta y sincera que una larga que repite lo mismo o usa expresiones complicadas. La oración no se mide por su longitud.

¿Es aceptable una oración pastoral corta?
Sí. Jesús mismo dijo en Mateo 6:7 que no usemos «vanas repeticiones». El valor de la oración está en la sinceridad, no en la extensión. Una oración concisa que cubra gratitud, arrepentimiento y súplica puede ser una oración pastoral perfectamente llena de gracia.
¿Cuánto debe durar una oración pastoral?
2-3 minutos es lo típico para el culto dominical. Las oraciones pastorales cortas de alrededor de 1 minuto también están bien. Lo que importa no es el tiempo sino si el contenido une los corazones de la congregación en oración.
