Colossians 3:12-17
📖 Today's Word

"Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him."

📜 Today's Meditation

Autumn teaches us the art of gratitude. As leaves turn gold and crops ripen, we become aware of how much we have received. Paul's emphasis on a "grateful heart" in his letter to the Colossian church is precisely this—a heart that recognizes God's grace. We often fail to be grateful because we take what we have for granted. But everything we possess, even the very breath we breathe, is a gift from God.

Paul urges us to "be ye thankful." This is not merely a feeling; it is an attitude of life. When we begin our day with a grateful heart, our vision changes. We see blessings more than problems, and we feel abundance rather than lack. Gratitude quiets our minds and allows Christ's peace to dwell within us. This is the effect of love, "the bond of perfectness."

To do all things in the name of the Lord Jesus means that every action carries spiritual significance. Whether we work, eat, rest, or face hardship, if we do it in the name of Jesus and for His glory, our lives are completely transformed. Gratitude naturally flows from this consciousness.

Today, let us look around and find things to be thankful for. To treat our family and neighbors with God's love, and to live in gratitude for His grace, is the most beautiful worship we can offer. A day that begins with gratitude will surely be filled with peace.

🙏 Today's Prayer

God of gratitude, thank You for opening my eyes this morning. Thank You for giving me eyes to see all the blessings I have received. Sometimes I forget to be thankful and fall into complaining and resentment. Yet You continue to love and care for me.

On this autumn day, fill my heart with gratitude. As I work, eat, and rest, help me to remember the name of the Lord Jesus and do all things with thanksgiving. Give me a heart to treat those around me as holy and beloved, and grant me the grace to forgive their wrongs.

Let the peace of Christ rule in my heart. Help me to begin each day with gratitude instead of worry and anxiety, and to experience the peace that comes from being with You in that gratitude. I pray in Your name. Amen.
