"But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."
— Matthew 4:4

In the midst of summer's heat, beneath the blazing sun, we often find ourselves weary. As our bodies cry out for water, food, and rest, our souls too experience a deep thirst. Jesus spoke this truth during His wilderness temptation: "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." This reminds us that spiritual nourishment is as vital as physical sustenance.
We often concentrate on what we can see. We believe that food, drink, and possessions will bring us happiness. Yet even after forty days of fasting, when Jesus was hungry, He chose the Word of God. This teaches us that material abundance cannot guarantee the satisfaction of the soul.
To meditate on God's Word and fill our hearts with it is not merely a spiritual exercise. It is a fundamental act that establishes our true identity and sets the proper direction for our lives. In prayer, in reading Scripture, in moments of meditation, we find true vitality.
On this hot summer day, may we not neglect our souls while focusing only on physical needs. May we place God's Word at the center of our hearts, letting it sustain and guide us. The obedient life that Jesus demonstrated, the life founded upon God's Word—this is the path to experiencing true abundance.
🙏 Today's Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your faithfulness even in the scorching heat of summer. Forgive us for the times we have neglected our souls while pursuing only physical needs. Help us to live as Jesus has shown us, sustained by Your Word. May our daily prayers and meditation on Your Word revive and strengthen our souls, and guide us to follow Your will even amid the world's temptations. We pray in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
