In Gethsemane, Jesus prayed before the cross. As a human, He honestly expressed His deep anguish and fear of death, but at the same time, He surrendered His own will and sought the will of God. This is the very essence of true obedience.
The same is true in our lives. We sometimes suffer when God's will differs from our expectations. Before failure, loss, and unexpected change, we feel our plans collapse. Jesus too desired that this cup would pass from Him. But a single word "nevertheless" changes everything. When we surrender our own desires and seek the will of the Father, fear transforms into peace.
Obedience to God's will does not mean that our hopes are denied. Rather, we are led to a greater purpose. Just as Jesus' obedience led to the salvation of all humanity, our obedience changes us and those around us. No matter how difficult the trials we experience today, we can believe that within God the Father's hands, a greater good is being accomplished.
🙏 Today's Prayer
Heavenly Father, grant me the strength to lay down my heart that is full of my own desires. When my plans crumble, when my expectations fail, help me to become a disciple who moves forward in obedience seeking Your will. Grant me the humility and faith to truly say, like Jesus, "not as I will, but as Thou wilt." Through this prayer, may my soul find peace. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
